Our story

Bhutanova is a small, Bhutanese-owned company in Babesa, Thimphu. I started it after more than ten years as a licensed trekking, cultural and birding guide, to plan trips the way I would show a friend my own home: private, unhurried and honest about what things cost.

Our guides, drivers and tourist-standard vehicles are our own, and when a trip needs more hands we bring in only experienced people. Whether you come for the festivals, the high trails or the birds, you plan it directly with the people who will lead it.

What we believe

Bhutan measures progress by Gross National Happiness, and we try to run a travel company the same way. Our aim is tourism that lasts: travel that supports local communities, respects Bhutan’s culture and leaves every guest a little changed for the better.

We want to show travellers a Bhutan that is honest and unhurried, while making sure the places we visit benefit from every trip. That means expert guidance, personal service and a steady focus on your well-being, from the first email to the drive back to Paro airport.
